    Server merging must happen

    Hey guys!

I've been playing this game for quite some time, I'm on international world 7 with my own top 20 guild.

However finding new people to join the guild is pretty much impossible by now. The server is 99% dead. I can only imagine older servers are worse. So merging all the servers and filtering out the inactives would be great.

I've seen the discussion in the past but it has been quite a while since the "it might happen" response.

It kinda feels like the devs have abandoned old servers, pushing out new servers and letting the old ones die. some of us have spent a lot of real money on the game and it is slowly becoming useless in a dead server.

Duplicate names can be an issue but I suggest forcing all the merged accounts to input a new name. So if you're in time, you can use your old name.

Inactive accounts (offline for 3 months or more) will be temporarily deactivated and taken out of the hall of fame. They can be reactivated by logging in and using some kind of activation code mechanism.

These are all suggestions, but the main thing is WE NEED SERVER MERGES!! All old servers are basically left to die now.

According to the devs, the mergers cannot happen.

They tested it and it did not work.

I don't know all of the details or the reasons that it did not work, but that was the information we were given.

Leander has posted on here many times concerning the merging of servers.

It is possible if they gonna try what hexblot said :
'There are tons of easy ways to mitigate the email problem, here's just one:
Announce that server is being merged to .
Develop a new game "version", that has only a single form (no game) - this should be [EDITED] easy for any dev team to do within a week tops (see next step for form specs).
Once anyone logs in to , they only get a form/settings popup (whichever already exists) saying that the server is in "migration" mode. In this popup:
you can see your toon name. If it already exists in the new server, you need to change it (else it's locked).
you can see your email, locked if populated, required to fill in if not.
<enter policy for multiple accounts in the target server here, if it comes to that>
a migrate button to manually migrate your account when all the above are satisfied.
While the server is in "migration mode", you get this version of the game and cannot play or do anything until you migrate to the new server -- thus, no easy achievement hunting while most people are gone.
To lower operational costs, co-host all "old" servers as VMs in a single server after a week of migrations -- the resource requirements will be hugely less since all actually active players will be gone.

With this scenario, you get the added benefit of pruning old/inactive accounts without actually deleting them (you can keep tons of virtualized servers alive so that is anyone with shrooms from ye olde times decides to revive themselves can still login and move forward with the migration).

The only actual work is performing the migration (and all the relevant data, which is definitely a bigger task, but again - not huge, and probably already implemented), and preparing for a resource peak during the first week of migrations.

The "hard" decisions are about what happens to duplicate (ie same owner) in the same server, since multiaccounting is not allowed, but the owner may have legitimately created a toon in both the old and new server before migrations.

It all boils down to the management / business decision to move forward, not a technical reason.

PS Been a web engineer / devops specialist for more than 15 years now in total. No matter the level of difficulty, it is impossible NOT to be able to do this technically.

Yeah my server is a s1...maybe its 200 individual active players with luck xD
They should reconsider and try harder

That's what I thought. They're basically ruining thousands of players their fun by adding new servers and ignoring the dying older servers.

There might be issues, no idea, I'm not a game dev. But I've seen A LOT of games do it so why not shakes?

Honestly I don't even think I want to play much longer, knowing that in a year, I will probably be the only one playing while new servers are full of life. It's a sad thought really.. I hope the devs figure something out because my 50 member guild is 50% dead and the only other active guilds are the top 3 guilds.. The rest is dying too. Most of my friends already stopped playing because of this.

We need this to happen devs! I believe in you.

again, 2 new people are gone. the server is dying more and more every day. We need this merge!! You'll keep losing old loyal players if they need to switch servers all the time

I totally agree with this. I have one character on one server - uk2 - and I've been playing for years to get to a high level. I really don't want to start all over again with a new toon on a new server, that's not what floats my boat. But the lack of new players is a real problem - the top five or six guilds are fossilising

                Please, do something.

I play on and we really need this merging thing.

7/8 years of playing, the server is slowly dying...
