I discovered this magical gem for the first time today...

I believe that it can be set into certain items to improve them:-

1.) Would this replace a black gem if used on an equipped item?

2.) It says it can be used on certain items - What items are these?

Sounds like regular strength stone ...they changed design of stones, maybe that got you confused
