I think that is how a lot of people get a job. They just stumble upon it. Too bad you haven't gotten to travel yet.

There's a master plan in the works to ship me off to Europe for 6 months. "Home base" would be either the Netherlands, France or Germany, but I would get to travel around to do my research. It's just...getting there. But I've been applying for various "poor people travel bursaries" that send you over for 4-8 months, pay for your airfare there and back, and pay for your room and board. I would have to pay for my own food, and my supervisor would pay for all of my transportation within Europe. Not a bad deal, says I!

Plus, there were whispers of shipping me off to Ecuador, too for two weeks. Only two weeks, but still. That's two weeks longer than I've ever been there before!! And that would be awesome...a place I've definitely always wanted to see, and to be able to bash around in a forest in jungle Ecuador for two weeks would be AWESOME.

Way to go, gumb. Now you've got me all giddy for travel again. lol

Wow either option sounds like a great time. It's nice that so much of it is paid for. Makes me wish I had money to travel around a bit.

you just need to find ways to get yourself overseas. Then, depending on what you're prepared to do (and I don't mean prostitution), you can get essentially everything else paid for. Two of my friends did that all around Europe. They got a Eurorail card to travel anywhere they wanted, anytime they wanted, and just chose to do it overnight so they had somewhere to sleep. During the day, they would go to restaurants that looked like they would be busy at dinner, and tell them they were Canadian tourists with no money, and they were wondering if they could wash the restaurant dishes for the night. They asked for something stupid like the equivalent of $20 each for the entire afternoon/evening, and then used that to pay for a hostel. They actually ended up making some money because people felt sorry for them lol. Three months later, they came home. Somewhat disheveled-looking, but in one piece! The whole trip only cost them about $1000

That does sound fun. ^^ Maybe I will do it over one of my summer breaks after I know I have a job to come back to.

Maybe S&F will sponsor you as a walking billboard if you promise to wear their t-shirt everywhere.
*plots an evil plan*

I don't know I was already a walking billboard for City Year for 2 years wearing their bright red jacket and doing PT in public square. I guess it depends on the offer if I would do it again.

That's crazy. Now I can say I actually know someone that was a human billboard. That's awesome!
*points to self* jealous!

Wearing a coat isn't so bad. It would be worse if you had to dress up like a chicken.
