Default Football worldcup South Africa 2010

Who's watching? 1:0 for South Africa, great goal.

Dear Americans, we're talking about soccer here.

Seriously? Did someone forget to tell Mexico not to bring their Junior B's?

And yes, there are those of us Americans that can put up with the fake injuries and uncivilized fans long enough to watch a football match. Don't you and I confuse it with real sports, though.

Fake injuries? Soccer? Really?

You mean like this?

Or what about this?

Long live soccer. The only game where you can run up and down a field sweating your butt off, never scoring a single goal and it be deemed the "most exciting game of the year".

GO PARAGUAY! Are they even playing in the world cup this year? If not, GO URUGUAY! If they're not playing...eff. Go Argentina! But that's so cliche'd and boring. Who the hell else from South America is even playing, other than Argentina and Brazil?

Uruguay is playing - root for them. They're about to open up against France. It's always fun to root against France.

And ok, some of the injuries are real. I would never make it through an entire match. Way too much running.

to me, soccer is just stupid in general (sorry Leander). One of my exes is from Ecuador, and he is FANATICAL over soccer. I watched a couple of games with him, and I just didn't get it. I mean, I'm not a huge fan of American Football, but if I'm in a bar watching a game (any game, doesn't have to be any kind of championship game) I really get into it and soon enough I'm yelling at the TV like everyone else. Same with hockey. But soccer? No dice. Even when someone scores, it's like "wtf is the big deal? The ball is small, the goal is friggin massive, the guy in front of the goal has a slim to nil chance of stopping it if you get close enough to make a shot. So he made a shot and it went in. And I'm supposed to start screaming and throwing beer around? PRECIOUS BEER!!!!"

Really? Now I'm not a huge football fan, but kicking a ball with precision is a lot tougher than catching one and running over a line with it (that incidentally is larger than a soccer goal).
I can get into watching football (soccer), because I grew up with it... But American Football is just lame to me... There's no real flow to the game as it's just stops and starts and they seem to wear too much protective gear (unlike rugby and football). But in reality it's probably because my understanding of the rules is minimal, if I understood why they seem to stop every time someone has the ball maybe I'd enjoy it more...

(It's interesting on a uk forum that I'm the only British guy defending it as a lot of my countrymen are fanatical about it (and I'm really not)... Show's how under populated we are)!
