Keeping eggs in the inventory does not make sense. No, you do not get a bonus. Only actual pets in the pets tab increase your stats.

no what I meant was just opening the pet doesn't give the bonus you have to get the egg and use it to get the bonus.

Bugs often don't, I thought it was buggy behavior! Thankfully it's not that way.
